The Prosperity Imprint

In entrepreneurship and coaching, a recurring theme is the concept of prosperity.  A brief review of social media and it becomes apparent that there is much focus on sharing this prowess of materialism and prosperity.  As a coach, my clients notice this and it can lead to comparisons or perhaps a limited view of what prosperity truly is.  As we explore the term solely based on the concept of financial gains, it does lead to singleness in thought, a competition of worth, and at times a move away from authenticity.  Even if we looked up the definition in a basic dictionary, Prosperity relates to “the state of being prosperous - wealthy, affluence, and riches.”

However, lucky for us, there is SO much more possible!  As a coach, I coined the term Prosperity Imprint as a process to help clients embrace prosperity in the true sense of what it means.  There is much more to the true concept of Prosperity; one that allows us to authentically embrace all that aligns with us.  The Latin origin of prosperity is actually Prosperitas: meaning abundance, joy, success, and approbation (encouragement, appreciation, acceptance, permission and support).  Thus, if we truly want to attract prosperity, we need to investigate this comprehensive approach and what it means for each of us.

Steps to Creating a Prosperity (Prosperitas) Imprint:

  1. Know Thyself:  Socrates said that people make themselves appear ridiculous when they are trying to know obscure things before they know themselves.  Plato also alluded to the fact that understanding 'thyself,' would have a greater yielded factor of understanding the nature of a human being.  Start by incorporating self-awareness strategies and inventories to learn about your strengths, your preferences and your blind spots.

  2. Write down your avatar values:  One of the best ways to ensure you are creating a powerful imprint is to truly know your avatar values.  These are values that are 5-7 themes that really describe your purpose, synergy and what you seek to accomplish in the world

  3. Avoid the “The End of History Illusion” Phenomenon:  This is a term psychologist used to refer to our tendency to dismiss that change is possible so we get stuck in a sense of permanency.  Instead, realize you can change anything as long as you commit to it.

  4. Investigate your definition of success and joy:  Take time to really explore what success means to you.  What ways do you feel joy?  We find that if we actually journal around it, we reveal that most times success is freedom, happiness, travel, family, amongst other contribution focused aspects of life.

  5. Remove myth ridden comparisons:  For 30 days, choose not to compare yourself to others.  Remove any forms of media that you find lends to you comparing.  It is very powerful to detach from comparisons.  Most comparisons are based in a myth of perception, so choose to break the ties.

  6. Connect to your authentic self:  This means finding those opportunities or environments which challenge your own perceptions that are fear based.  This includes reading books that empower you, enrolling in self-development processes and working with an accountability partner.

  7. Map out your Prosperitas Imprint:  In your journal, write out the major areas of your life-family, fun, freedom, career, financial, health, spirituality, relationships, etc.  In each area write 2-5 statements of describe what ways prosperity would look like in each.  Rate on a scale 1-5 (1 “not at all,” to 5 “totally aligned”) how close you are to excelling in that area as it relates to knowing yourself, having meaning, seeing abundance, joy, success, and approbation (encouragement, appreciation, acceptance, permission and support).  In any that are less than 3, write 1 personal commitment statement on what you will do to change it.

  8. Adopt a freedom mindset:  When you ask people why they focus solely on materialism or money, most people will say it is to so they can make their families happy, have the freedom to do what they choose, and to feel a sense of worth.  All of these things are a mindset.  If you choose to adopt a freedom mindset you are more apt to choose what aligns with you authentically.

So truly to be prosperous, we choose the freedom to intentionally map the lifestyle that gives us abundance in true sense of the meaning of prosperity.
